Yokosuka Move-In Housing Process

Upon arrival at Yokosuka

Step 1

Your initial stay will be at the Navy Lodge or an approved hotel. Your Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA/Military) and your Temporary Quarters Subsistence Allowance (TQSA/Civilian) starts when you check into your new command.

Step 2

Military: Check in with your new command personnel office (they will explain TLA policy and check-in procedures) or the Family Assistance Support Team (FAST) office.

Civilians: Check in with your Human Resources Office or personnel department of your new command (they will explain TQSA policy and check-in procedures).

Step 3

Attend a housing brief for all personnel (military and civilian) held daily 0830-1000, Monday through Friday in the Yokosuka Housing Services Center. (Note: There is no housing brief on the first Wednesday of the month.) Attendance at the Newcomer's Brief is required prior to receiving housing services at the Yokosuka Housing Services Center!

Step 4

Married personnel requesting MFH must attend the military family housing application brief which is held Monday through Friday at 1400 in the Yokosuka Housing Services Center. After the brief, schedule an appointment to see your housing counselor.

A. Military Family Housing (MFH):
On the day of your appointment please bring the following documents required to apply for MFH:

Military:

DD Form 1746 (Application for assignment to housing)
PCS Orders
#1 Detaching endorsement NAVCOMPT 3067 from last permanent command
Family entry approval
Newly married will need proof of marriage and command sponsorship letter

Civilians:

DD Form 1746 (Application for assignment to housing)
SF50
Orders (1614)
Transportation agreement (1617)
Newly married will need proof of marriage and command sponsorship letter

B. Off Base Housing:
Utilization of interpreters' office does not require an appointment. If you are married and have not submitted the above forms, you will need to provide them to the interpreters' office. In addition to the forms listed above Single/Unaccompanied Military E5 and below must have a chit from the ship or shore command authorizing them to reside off the ship and draw OHA/MIHA, plus a BEQ memo stating there are no quarters available in the BEQ.

Step 5

If Housing Services Center personnel state that Military Family Housing may be available within 60 days you may remain at the Navy Lodge and TLA/TQSE will be paid in 10 day increments until you move in. Declination of Military Family Housing may result in TLA/TQSA being stopped. If the Services Center indicates Military Family Housing will not be available within 60 days you must actively pursue off base housing (a minimum of 5 houses per week) to be eligible for TLA. TLA may be extended at the end of 60 days only after the Services Center certifies that you are actively seeking off base housing.
