Thanks to USPS's new rule about not shipping items with lithium ion batteries, I now have to find a new shipment method.

Does anyone know how to determine the "Japanese" address for Yokosuka Base?

I am fairly sure the rule about not shipping lithium batteries is an international one - the USPS is just complying with the law. The batteries were causing fires in the cargo holds of commercial airliners and deemed a safety hazard. I could be incorrect. But, I think a work around will be offered by January. However, the Japanese address for your PO box is posted at the post office. I think it is on the end of one of the aisles.

If you search this forum you will find your Japanese address for Yokosuka as well as shipping Lithium batteries.

FYI- There is potential risk of a battery thermal runaway especially with defective lithium batteries being returned outside of their normal containers that have a near full charge and are near other combustibles. Lithium batteries are flown everyday around the planet. The rule is a USPS rule, the safety precautions have been expanded by the USPS until they can figure out how to separate them. USPS won't allow you to ship lithium batteries by truck from Yokota to Yokosuka, it's a knee jerk reaction not an international law.

In country you can use Yamato transport, FEDEX, UPS. Overseas you can use EMS, FEDEX, UPS etc. I ship lithium batteries globally I just don't use USPS anymore.

Just do a quick search for lithium batteries and you will find our previous threads which have most all the Japanese addresses for every base.

Once you figure out Yamato and EMS you may find them more reliable and efficient too it just makes life a little tougher ordering from the states.
