NHK Science and Technology Research Lab. Open House Thu. May 24 - Sun. May 27, 2012. 10:00am-5:00pm each day.

NHK - Nippon Hoso Kyokai or Japan Broadcasting Corporation - is the Japanese public broadcasting organization like BBC in U.K.

NHK has it own Science and Technology Research Laboratories which is one of the world leading technology organization in Television and Broadcasting area. NHK used its advanced technologies. NHK had started the world first High Definition TV broadcasting (16:9 wide TV, yet analog...) in 1989 for example.

The open house will include a lot of lab. exhibits which you may never seen or even never think of before. I went to the 2010's open house and impressed from Haptic Technology for Representing 3-D Objects exhibit http://www.nhk.or.jp/strl/open2010/...ji/39.html which was still far far a way from practical application, but was amazing. Their target (in 50 years or something) is record and broadcast haptic sense. You will see such fragments of the future of broadcasting.
