I've seen a few stores off base selling eclipse viewing masks and glasses that will make it safe to watch.

Here's a couple of websites that explain the best way to photograph a solar eclipse. The first is a NASA website, the second is one I found with my google-fu.
    http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEhelp...photo.html
    http://www.mreclipse.com/SEphoto/SEphoto.html

They both recommend a large zoom lens. Does Yodobashi, Bic Camera or anyplace else rent lenses? I only have a 300mm but would like something a little bigger.

Annular Sun Eclipse - 1st time in 173 years at Kanagawa area, in 24 years in Japan (Last time - 1987 at Okinawa).

Weather forecast tomorrow morning - Cloudy. So bad.

I have to live another 18 years to observe next annular sun eclipse at Hokkaido in 2030...

Weather was mostly cloudy. 95% overcast, but very luckily we could see the sun while the peak period. What I did see was:

    It was so beautiful.
