So we can just walk or drive up to the gate with a Japanese national and all they have to do is show their ID?

I am a little confused about this new policy change.

Hopefully someone can fill in the details, because from the information they provided, its still a little unclear.

    - One Day guests are allowed to be escorted onboard FLEACT, Yokosuka without obtaining a gate pass

Okay I get this, that we wont have to get a gate pass anymore.

How does this comply with those that are driving? So if we have a guest in our vehicle, before we could go in, grab a few passes, walk back outside the gate, and then drive back in with our guests. So how does this comply with the new standards?

I am also curious how this will comply with the NEX guest policy. You were required to show them a gate pass for your guests, for you to escort them as a guest into their facilities. How is NEX modifying their escort policy? Is it just anyone that has a person "SAYING" verbally, oh yes, this is my guest.. will do?

Must be registered into DBIDS in order to escort guests.

    Okay, I understand this.

So if your from another base, lets say Atsugi, Yokota, Zama, and want to bring someone in Yokosuka, you have to visit the main desk like normal, register in DBIDS, but then you wont need a gate pass for your guests. You just have to make sure your entered into DBIDS in Yokosuka's system, and thats it?

    It would assume so...

    - Ensure nationality is NOT from a debarred country.
(If your guest's nationality is on the debarred country list, require additional paperwork via ISO in advance!

I understand this, and completely agree.

But who makes this judgement? An ASF person that TAD standing watch? I think the policy of them entering in the main facilities was a lot better system, and also ensured that individuals previous history was logged into a database.

Are we truly to believe that someone standing these watches knows each country on that debarred country list?  We are putting a lot of faith in this, if we are.  Sure you can provide them a checklist, but now their eyes are off-what they should be doing, which is standing watch, and being vigilant.

The time, for checking these personnel, in my opinion should remain how it is, with security forces checking them professionally at the main office inside a closed room environment.  Assume they visit through the side gate, womble, or through the vehicle lane, what is the strategy there?   I just am trying to bring a  to the reality.
    - Guests must remain with sponsor while on Base. (NO EXCEPTIONS!)

This has always been the case, and agree with it 100%

Ensure guests are off base by 2359.
Going to be difficult to judge this one, since there is no official record of the individual ever even entering the base. You atleast had some sort of accountability with a pass, and you knew what individuals at 12:05am didnt turn in their gate passes, after they were confirmed by the database.

I am completely for change, especially one that will increase proficiency, cut costs, or reduce man hours, but this just seems like one that I personally wouldnt of changed. I see too many flaws, and too many situations, that we all know we are all being vigilant to everyday.

What about teens who do not have formal ID's? Previously, they were able to get in with a student ID.

How is NEX modifying their escort policy? Is it just anyone that has a person "SAYING" verbally, oh yes, this is my guest.. will do?

On 4/23/2012 I wrote this on my discussion, and from the post above that the base put out, it didnt have any information about guests entering into the NEX.

Well, of course, this affected me today.

I assumed from the info above, that you could drive in with a guests with no problem and enter into the NEX with no problems.

Well the first part worked great, entering into the base. We had 2 Japanese guests, and when we went to enter into the NEX, they hit me with the policy, that just changed on May 1st, 2012.

I may be wrong, but did anyone see this announced anywhere?

I didnt argue with the guy, he showed me in black and white, and it was highlighted, that guests have to visit the ISO office to get a gate pass in order to enter in the NEX.

So we went back, got (2) passes, and entered in with no problem.

So just to update this thread with the correct info. You can escort guests, but if you are planning to enter in the NEX, you will have to still get a gate pass from the main gate ISO office.

I am thinking this thread would be a good place to post my question for you guys. I have two minor children coming to visit us this summer (my sister and brother ). I can't leave them home alone when I go shopping, so how will this work with the commissary? Are they allowed to go in and stay with me, or will they have to sit unattended on the bench? I don't feel entirely comfortable with leaving them alone at the front of the store, but I am unsure if they can walk with me because of the no guest policy. They are obviously underage and not going to be shopping for themselves. One is a 10 year old girl, the other a 14 year old boy ( love them both, but the 14 year old boy ACTS like a 7 year old boy!), which is why I don't want him to sit alone. Anyone have any experience on this, other than to tell me to hire a babysitter (who are hard to find here, as most of us parents know ).

If the 14 year old boy is not that tall he might be able to go with you. Kids are allowed in the commissary with no problem. Tried it with my cousins 12 and 10 before and no problem.

Does anyone know the policy for Yokota/Camp Fuji? I have a guest pass for a visitor for Atsugi, but planning on traveling around a bit and staying a night or two at Camp Fuji and a night in Yokota. Will I have any problems getting him a pass at those bases? He is British if that matters...

    Hi "Poopy"!

I was at Yokota last week with my guest who had a visitors pass and he was NOT allowed to enter the BX. I had always assumed that guests with passes could accompany the ID card holding sponsor into the BX but that is no longer the case. I think this change happened recently.
