I am moving to Japan in July and would love to find employment when I get there.  Are there any good websites I can view to search for new positions?

The first step to figure out is where are you headed? What are you qualified to do? How long of a commute will you tolerate? What are you willing to do?

We are transferring to Yokuska.  I am currently a director of sales of 2 hotels. I would like to keep my work experience current while in Japan.  I am interested in sales or event planning.

I would think that both the club & MWR/NEX could use event planners. If you want to build on your career in the hospitality industry, try to get something at Navy Lodge or NGIS. Not that they do many promotional events, but you might be able to round out your skills with some experience there that will give you a stronger resume when you get back to the states.

    Another idea...........

If you are the entrepreneur type you could easily start your own business coordinating tours for Gaijins going all over the place.  You can reserve and charter buses with drivers and take people all over in the same manner that ITT, and MWR operate. Landmarks, ski trips, Disney, beaches, aquariums etc.  Just ask around and see what people like and dislike about the current available trips and cater yours accordingly.

Just as an example here is what they charge for the buses where I am at:

    Hi Nene

In addition to "NAF" jobs at the Navy Exchange and MWR, there are also GS jobs on the base. Here's a current listing: http://www.cnic.navy.mil/navycni/groups/public/@cnrj/@region/@hro/documents/document/us_va_yok_site_latest.pdf

MWR and NEX are great places to get your foot in the door and are customer service-driven positions. If you are attending college, you can find something that allows you the flexibility to make some money while you go to school.

    Best of luck!

    Jessica
