So I am a bit confussed, called CDC and was told that the waiting list is combined for both cdc and the home daycares. So what do parents do that work if they are unable to get into that program? As i was told its against base policy to pay someone to do child care full time that is not licensed with them.

Any suggestions? As I am in the middle of a job interview process and was pretty dumbstruck when i called CDC to see about putting the kids in a homeday care only to be told that the waiting list is combined so its extremely long.

I was more than happy to fly over a family member to watch the kids for 3 months or to pay a sahm to do it, but would I get in trouble for this?

You are correct, it's 1 centralize list. Advice given to me when I arrived was to NOT job hunt until I secured child care for my kids. I am on the wait list for CDC and SAC (school age care). Today, I received a call that my school age can start at the Youth Center. However, SAC is a service for families with dual working jobs or the spouse needs to be enroll in college courses. I have 90 days to find a job or start school (which I already have my degree) but I can't since I have my younger one with me. I checked the wait list and the lady's best guess is AT LEAST another 3 more months. There is another 90 day extentesion for parents who can't find a job and can prove they were actively applying. But what if i don't get a call for another 4-5 months for CDC? I really don't want to put my school age at the back of the wait list again but it seems this may be best right now. I don't want her to be back on the wait list six months from now. By then, I'll never work while here in Japan.

It's not against regulations to fly someone over to watch your children on base if you follow the live- in nanny guidance. I believe it's mentioned in the housing handbook? I, not sure what instruction governs it, I just know it exists. Otherwise, you would not be able to have base access for someone from the states to care for them.

thanks ladies! trust me this is something i was not even planning on, when i put in the application I thought it was a long shot, but here i am stuck in limbo lol..I just don't want to miss an opportunity to start a career, not just a job.
