Hi! My husband and I are arriving to Yokosuka on March 18 and will have our 35-lb. cattle dog/terrier mix with us. We are staying at the Navy Lodge and have had absolutely no luck getting ahold of the on-base kennel, and have just come across information that they aren't open on Sundays anyway. So I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on other kennel options or knew of people willing to pet-sit/foster our (very well-behaved) dog, at least for a few days until we could just go over to the kennel in person and get that all squared away. (Otherwise I have all the paperwork, approval numbers, etc. all in order, it's just finding a place for her to stay when we have finished our journey!) Any help or suggestions would be so appreciated...thank you!

I do pet sitting . I have two friendly dogs . We have a nice huge yard to play and plenty of lap room. Send me a personal message and I will give you my contact information.

If you like, I can go over to the kennel and check what's going on for you. They are currently remodeling so that is why the phone has not been working. I have used them and had no problems.

Oh, and if you arrive on an off day they make arrangements to be there to accept your pet.

I would go with the pet-sitting. PAWS (our shelter here) just put on FB that the kennel is not open at all right now.

Haha thanks. No worries Sally never made me feel bad about going to the fridge lol. She was a pure joy to have around after the initial crying for mommy. Of course that is a given. Anyday she is welcome and there is a great big ready for her. She is a joy to have around except milky getting jealous silly girl

Thank you all for your offers of help - our sponsor finally was able to make arrangements at the kennel for our dog (which apparently is undergoing renovations, which is why it was even harder than usual to make contact with them - she had to go over there in person), but Chris, we are definitely keeping your contact information close since I have a feeling we won't want to have the dog spend more than a few weeks at the kennel. We are arriving in Yokosuka on June 16 (If all goes as planned)  and I see from a prior post that you do pet sitting.  We have an 8lb poodle and I would like to see if you can car for him.  He is really good with dogs and people, but no so much with small children.  Their quick movements scare him, as he is blind.  We have reservations in The Navy Lodge for 30 days, but certainly hope not to be there that long.

If you contact PAWS Shelter on base, and let them know your need, they can find some "foster parents" for you also.
