Has anyone heard of this happening? How can the Navy help? I'm not quite sure how to ask this question or where to begin. My husband's AD and I've just received news that my father has cancer and a possibility of it being elsewhere in his body. We have a PRD of 12/06 this year. My husband is putting in for orders next month. Can my daughter and I move home and what happens to our stuff? Does he have to go to BEQ? Just doing some research and crossing my fingers.

In the Army, we had something called Early Return of Dependants. This was most often used during divorce/separation, BUT I have heard of it used in instances of family emergencies. Keeping in mind that you will not be able to return here on the Military's dime, you should propbably contact the unit and start asking questions. You might also want to try your FRG coordinator...that person might be able to help you get started too.

Thanks Jennybean! I don't think we would be coming back before the PRD, though.

The navy also has an ERD system. The family of a friend of mine evaced after the earthquake last year and then decided to remain in the states since his tour had less than 6 months left. I forget how soon their household goods followed them, but he did spend some time in the BEQ.

Best of luck with this, and I hope your father does well against the cancer.

Out of curiosity why your husband is not under orders already as his PRD is less than the orders window (7-9 months)...technically he will be at the Navy Needs by now? If he has orders he can move you back to CONUS without the need of an ERD package, this packages are lots of work and CNFJ is the final approval authority, I'm not sure if your case could get approved but I seen a couple for other reasons getting disapproved, not to say that yours will. The only reason why they approved most of the packages from the Voluntary Departure last year is because it was a lot cheaper to leave families there if they opt to stay. good luck if your spouse needs help tell him to talk to his CPC (middle man between command and PSD), we always see this cases at our monthly meetings, they will know what is the instruction for CNFJ is and what the package needs to have in order to make it a strong case.
