Well today I was walking around the commissary when I saw a lady that I know but we were never close and we hardly talk even before. When I saw her I gave her a simple smile because I dont think it's my responsibility to yell hi to her every time. Then she started screaming I am a snob and threatened me she'll have my ID taken away from me. Granted she was joking ,(even if we weren't close and she isn't even a dependent) I said "try". But I was pissed deep inside. I didn't said anything because I am not a war freak whatsoever. I don't like arguments. But what should I do next time or say to her? Coz I don't want people talking to me like that. LOL

What base are you talking about, not that we really care based on the fact that this sounds like a personal problem between you and this person.

Yokosuka. Well can I complain about her attitude. Because I am a customer or what necessary actions should I do. This isnt personal coz we don't even know eac other like that.

Akakmg - Have you tried the old-fashioned method of approaching her to bring some closure to your problem? Bullies need to be put in their places now and then. They feed off other people getting mad and they keep doing it until somebody stops them. Just my two yen.

Well the problem is we got nothing to settle. I barely know her. But anyway. Thank you. I'll probably just have this post deleted. Thanks. And yah I guess she's just a bully.

People say stupid stuff in public places all the time in Yokosuka, especially when they get ready to go back to the States and think they are untouchable and all p'd off because you get to stay and they have to go back to the States and work for a living.

Akakmg, the next time you have an issue in the commissary with one of its employees, vendors or contractors bring it to the duty manager's attention. Our staff no matter how they are employeed at the commissary should leave their personal issues at the door. I want to apologize that a member of my staff was disrespect for in anyway to you. I wish I was there today when you had this unfortunate issue so that proper steps could be taken right away.

Its just that as an employee-customer relation I felt disrespected especially that she was yelling it in tagalog and a lot of Filipino works there plus she said shes gonna have my ID taken away. I was like who do you think you are???? I hope Filipinos could put boundaries especially when they're working instead of acting like they own the place. She was at the deli and I was already at the frozen veggies and I can still hear her saying things about how snob I was. I am not working so its not my responsibility to smile to everyone.

Sounds like a filipino thing.  I always lose when asked if I'm filipino.....If I say yes, they don't agree coz I don't speak the language (I'm a disgrace for speaking english).  If I say no, they insist that I am because I look like it.  Either way, they want to be right by proving I'm wrong.  Take it with a grain-of-salt.  It's just in the culture, and throughout all my years of experiencing that type, I've decided to avoid my own kind because of this.  Filipino Mafia, they can have it, I don't need it.  If I'm a snob for doing that, so be it.

I wish I did report it as soon as it happened. But I was scared afterwards coz the thing when you report is what's gonna happen when you go off base. Filipinos have this freaky attitude war freak thing and I don't like picking fights. But thanks frank. I feel better now. I guess I just need to let it out j I hope jB don't mind this. Lol.

Eh, seems like she has her own issues, I wouldnt speak to her EVER! Complaining wont do anything, they will barely give her a slap on the writs...forget about her, shes not a friend.

Just wanted you to know that you're not the only one.    And you're right, they can be freakish (freakishly aggressive) at times.  Don't let that dictate your comfort level on base.  It's your home, you should always feel safe and comfortable living here.
