First of all: This Sailor's dad is a Submariner, that's about al that really needs to be said. Cracker Jack my ass, it looks like she put a lot of effort into it. Kind rude to say otherwise. Jealousy is a b!+@h. Suck it Trebek.

Who cares? ESWS, AW, IDW are only really good for making sailors feel good about themselves. It isn't even a career requirement like it is for officers. I can't see any other purpose for the programs. They should just discontinue all these worthless "qualification" programs and just give them the pins after their first year n board.

The last I heard you cannot get a recommendation for E-6 without ESWS. I have heard that on many ships the ESWS program is a joke. The Goat Locker (if they cared) could make it a worthwhile program. I do know the Enilisted Submarine Warfare Program is taken very seriously and the vast majority of recipients earn and deserve to put them on their chests.

The last I heard was if you were heterosexual, that disqualified you for submarine duty. Most bubbleheads that I've met wouldn't make a pimple on a real sailor's ass.

Have you run sub duty? If not, perhaps you should walk in their shoes before judging. What is a "Real"sailor? One that can not complete a sentence with out swearing? One that takes a smoke break every time he/she turns around? One that can barley pass PRT? One that half ways shines his/her boots and their cover is a crumpled mess? I have seen so many sloppy "Sailors" on this base it is disgusting.

Do bubbleheads wear shoes? I thought they were on their knees all the time. Of the 3000 sailors just booted out, how many were sewer pipe sailors? I pity the sailors on Yokosuka Naval Base who have to look at the dependents constantly. It must make them feel like their in some Walmart in Alabama.

i will agree with you on that one. There are some less than optimal people that walk around on base. I am not trying to offend you but rather understand what your opinion of a "real" sailor is? I can;t really comment about the Walmart thing. I did not shop there when we were in the states. I would rather be whipped with a belt than go to that store. Apparently, shoes and real clothes (not slippers and pajama pants) are not required in places like that. I know surface people dont like bubble heads and vice versa. Just not sure why?

Ok Orthomom. Here's the deal. It's a rivalry going back a hundred years. Heretofore, the navy was a mostly male organization and in such circumstances we develop our own methods of interacting. Part of this is we verbally abuse each other at any opportunity. This is how we show respect and cordiality to one another. It's a male thing. So when DR start's in with the submarine elitism stuff, I am obliged to respond accordingly. When you jump in the middle of one of these things, you may become collateral damage . It's not personal Its just what we do. Sorry. There is no real animus towards any community i.e. surface, subs, aviation etc.

It's a "male thing" which is typically outgrown by age 13 (about the same age wet towels are no longer snapped in the showers). Did you have a point aside from outing yourself as having the maturity of a pre-pubescent boy?

Rivalry infers that there was some sort of equal competition in which each side was competative. Like Patriots-Colts, Lakers-Celtics etc. Submarines vs Ships is similar to a sleek grey muscular great white shark (submarine) vs. a unsuspecting dirty haggled pelican (target) floating on the water taking random dumps waiting for the next little fish to swim by. No need to go on. If that Sailor really didn't deserve her ESWS that says even more about the state of affairs on "targets". That would never happen on a Submarine, we care to much. Personally, I feel she did and worked hard to get them and you are just drinking to much HaterAid.
