I haven't seen many Navy husbands on base yet. Seems like I'm the only one here. Anyone else? Its going to kind of suck if I am while my wife is deployed.

I have seen a few "Navy husbands" at the Lodge when we were there. I heard there are alot in Japan!
But if you ever want a friend, I have a 5 month old son and always willing to do coffee ect!

How about starting a "Navy Husband" monthly event where you all go out and do something together?

I hear ya.  Arrived here at CFAY in OCT 2011, not looking forward to the wife being deployed.  I have a 5 yo daughter in kindergarten and a 2 year old son.  Mr. Mom duties keep me busy and occupied.  But this morning, my daughter asked me what my friend's names were.....I actually answered, "I don't have any friends."  I wouldn't mind meeting up with others in my position.

You're not alone...My wife is a DOD teacher. Although I see her everyday it still seems like I'm alone most of the time. We have a 5yo little girl and a 2yo little boy. This is my first attempt at being a stay-at-home dad so I'm still getting used to it. My kids, however, are going crazy without having other little kids to play with. I take them to play at the parks when I can but we live off base to it's a bit hard sometimes. I'd be open to meeting sometime with anyone with kids similar in age so they can get some play time in. Not to mention my sanity...LOL!

The kids mood dictate what kind of day I'm going to have.  It can be tough, then there are those good days too.

    Hello there guys,

I have been thinking spouses of military members need to have some sort of social group or club per se. I am a spouse and I feel that the sacrifices we make often get overlooked or at least it feels like it. I would love to have one monthly social function or get together to meet and greet. I think we all need each other in some way or another. Whether its just to have someone to talk to when they need an ear or a quick urgent baby sitter at the last minute...we need each other. So if anyone is interested in this please email me at cindysibo1@yahoo.com and I will make it happen I was thinking of a pot luck meet and greet just to start off.

I agree that Facebook is a good place to start.  If anyone is interested and does not have a Facebook account, I highly recommend opening one.  It makes it very easy to connect with other people.  Organizing Events is a cinch and, if you're like me, stuck at home watching the toddlers, you can still get to know people via Facebook.  With the Check In feature via mobile FB, you can even find out if any of your friends are in the area while you're out, it's pretty cool.  TheBakers has a great point about FB.  Cindysibo1 offered her email address, so that's a great starting point too.

Sounds like a few of you are in my position. We just got here in November. I have my son (16 months old) everyday. I'd love to get some play dates going. especially since he isn't in CDC yet. The kid needs some other kids to run around and play with! Feel free to look me up on Facebook or email me: indytrucks2003@yahoo.com. Or send me a message here. Names Steve.
