How do you get  Yokota base from Fussa train station?  Would love walking and taxi directions.  How much should a taxi cost?
    Thanks Laura

I can't recall which taxis are able to go on base and which aren't but it is a very easy walk (maybe 10 minutes or so).

Take the east exit (higashi guchi) from Fussa station and walk beyond the traffic circle right in front of the station. Follow the main street running perpendicular to the train tracks past the McDonald's on your left. Bear right at the first light at the Y intersection (you'll then pass a post office on your right). I think you'll walk past one more light before reaching the light at Rt 16. The #2 gate is a across the street about a block to the right. The main gate by the MAC terminal is to the left but is quite a way down Rt 16. The commissary/exchange is just inside the #2 gate.

It probably isn't even half a mile or so from the station to the #2 gate--a very easy walk.

It's actually 8/10th of a mile. Look at google maps.

it's about 15mins walk from the station to yokota fussa gate. There are taxi's waiting downstairs near the SEIYU mall. They can take you to the Yokota Fussa Gate..we paid about 700-900 yen from fussa station to yokota gate. As with walking: when you go down the stairs, you should see COCO's on your right, a bus stop and taxi waiting area in front of you, and SEIYU mall on your left (mister donut is most visible). Walk to your right goin towards FAMILY MART. Facing family mart, walk to your left towards the stop light. You should see Mcdonalds on your left and an open, non-cemented parking lot that has a small "shampoo" sign across. Cross the pedestrian lane towards that parking lot and walk towards your right. Walk to the corner (first stoplight), you should see DREAM beauty salon and KAMIKAZE cafe on your right. Walk towards your left....just follow that road. You'll walk past the hospital (to your left). At the fork, go towards your left..you'll see a guitar store on your left (Cat Rock i think), and yellow banners that says "Century 21" (a real estate business)..just follow that road and you'll end up walkin past the railway and 711 on your right. At the end of that road, you'll see Yokota Fussa Gate (the one with the visitors id/pass check in).
