Hi there,
I have a question about the nurse job for Japanese citizen only. My little sister who is a RN nurse in Japan has been studying English in USA for 3 years. She is going back to Japan, but she doesn't want to forget her English skill. She would like to work in an environment where most people speak English, preferably the military base. Does anybody know a website that she can check for nurse/medical vacancy for Japanese citizen? Or an agency that she contact? We have checked few base websites, and the medicial jobs are for US citizen only. And from what I heard is that there are a lot of Japanese citizens working at the military hopsital. Where did they see the opening? Any information would be appreciated.

There is a website for Medical Postions:
http://hro.cnfj.navy.mil/japanese1/VA_JN/iryou.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://hro.cnfj.navy.mil/japanese1/.../iryou.htm Currently I dont see any available.
I would recommend your sister continue to visit this website:

There is an English and Japanese Only section, so hopefully she can find something she is interested and qualified for. I asked today for a few friends, and from what they told me about the position at the hospital, its nots that easy to get your foot in the door. Those positions like the cleaning positions are for those MLC workers that have been with the organization for a very long time. Because of that, people dont leave very frequently, and when they do, the position is filled immediately with someone either that has a connection to the position, has been on a very long waiting list, or was basically a hook up.. Not sure if that makes sense, but it probably falls under 1 of these 3 categories.. At the main gate, the Japanese have several MLC positions, which I am not sure if any are posted online.. They may be posted or scattered around the web, but watch out if they are still active. Some of those positions fill quite quickly, and have deadlines. I would recommend your sister, first stop by the Yokosuka Naval Security Office. There is a location where Japanese employment positions are posted. Start reviewing there, and also continue checking websites. She might want to visit http://mixi.jp/ and touch base with other Japanese woman that may be able to help network her into reaching the right people. Networking is key, for any position your looking for onbase. Its a small community, and things fill fast. Knowing who is leaving soon, or if a position will be open soon, can help her plan and have her paperwork ready to submit. Sometimes contract companies also get awarded positions, so I would also check these 2 Japanese websites:
http://www.hellowork.go.jp/ http://www.lmo.go.jp/recruitment/ Good luck! Let us know if you have any other questions.
