    Hi,

Could someone tell me the process for selling a car on Yokosuka base?  Does it have to be safety checked first before selling, and then what paperwork needs to be done once I find a buyer?  Thanks for your help.

want kind of car r u selling? We just arrived and are looking for a vehicle. Best bet on selling cars would be to contact VRO on yokosuka base to answer any questions on how to sell a car.

Let me see if I can provide some answers for you.

Advertise..... Year, Make, Model, Miles, Tires, JCI date, does it have a "Y" plate and has it been registered on a base? Condition, why are you selling and how long have you owned it? Do you have any pictures of it? What issues does it have?

(That information has to be exact, otherwise no one can tell if it's worth their time to pursue)

Low miles to you may not be low miles to me, in Japan it seems rare to find a vehicle with high miles... I recently bought a 97 with 24,000 miles on it. I saw a 2000 the other day with 3,000 miles on it.

If it has a Y plate and has been registered on a base already it will cost the buyer a little less money to get it in their name, therefore it may be a little more attractive to a buyer on base.

Once you have all of that place an ad on the automobile forum tab. Just compare it to others that are there to determine the fair market value. The less you ask for it the faster it will sell.

Because the JCI is current no inspections are required, all you need is a buyer with some cash. Then you need to de-register it at your VRO and give the buyer a bill of sale it's that easy.

Realistically that vehicle should be in high demand if it has no issues and the price is fair.

    good luck.

If the buyer lives off-base, they have to get a parking certificate for the car before it can be registered.  So, my seller got a POA for me and deregistered the vehicle.  I got a temp pass for 2 weeks so I can still drive the car until I get the parking certificate.  Then, I just register it in my name.
