So...to make a long story very short..

Fiancee is pregnant. Probably not going to be able to get married before she is due due to legal issues (the Phillipines sucks not having a divorce law). Right now she is going to a hospital in Tokyo, since that is where she currently lives, However, she is going to be moving into my apartment here in Yokosuka.   Does anyone know of/can recommend a birthing center nearby?

You can read up when my wife was having her baby.

We did it in Zushi though.

Someone on page 3 wrote about having a baby in Yokosuka at a birth center.

You can read it here: 11-10-2010 4:31 PM Posted by: Sunshine

I actually read through that entire topic as I was researching on my own how to find one. Thank you so much for sharing that. I looked up the one that was mentioned, but couldn't find a website for it. Zushi isn't too far from my place though, as I'm actually a stop away from it. I just have no idea where to look for a listing. Both Google and Yahoo failed me.

Evan - I have found that lots of places in Japan do not have websites, but they are still reputable/good places. Someone explained to me that they are more into mobile technologies her and websites are hard to design on phones (not sure if the generalization about the culture is true).
Anyway, I have driven by one on Blue Street. If you take Blue Street beyond the Chuo station, it will be on your right. If I remember correctly, it is a large greyish blue building. I think the way the lettering/signs are done, I only see it when traveling back to Yokosuka (so it is on my left). Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks Stuck. I drove down blue street each way, and had no luck finding it. Is it before or after the road that goes to the hospital, starting from the Yokosuka side?

It might be pretty far down. I saw it on two trips - both about a 30 minute drive from the base. I want to say it was right after a major intersection, but I know this does not help. There is a new family support person at FFSC. She is on the 4th floor in the same area as Family Advocacy and Counseling. The hospital referred me to her to find out about prenatal massage and doulas in the area. I am sure she would have information on a local birthing center. All you need to do it go in and ask for the New Parent Support Coordinator (I just asked for her using this title today, and I was directed right to her).
