I am looking for someone who has tent camped in Tama. I just made my reservations but I don't know if I got a good site, and I can't figure out where the shower houses and stuff is on the map. Are there water hook ups on site or do I need to bring a container? How bad are the bugs up there?  Oh and any other info you can give me would be great!

What camp site did you get? I have to as my son which are good and which are stinkers and repost. I know 5 is all rocky, there are a couple that are hilly. The sites are very different thank Ikego. Others are a mile away from anything. The showers are a bit horrific- they're next to Fukuda Field (which isn't on this map for some reason). I think Yoko-girl posted photos on here a while back.

Bathrooms are listed as building 531 on this map http://yokotaservices.org./document...amaMap.pdf

It has been a long time since I camped at Tama but it couldn't have changed much. Any of those with the water connection and the portable toilet is what I would recommend. We used to go out there all the time and honestly having the water and the toilet made things so much better! I am sure yours does I think I remember that one! We used to like I an H a lot! and I believe it is J that was one of our favs. It was huge, we could bring a ton of people there and it had enough room for parking lots of cars.

    I believe that unless things changed a lot F, G, H, I, J & K all have the portable toilet and water.
Showers? no idea we used to go to onsen after a day and clean up :-) I think I saw them once but 20 years ago they looked nasty... :-(

Bugs are horrific, bring some cans of "yard spray" from the commissary or BX to spray plus you'll need your own bug spray and we always had lots of mosquito coils (buy them off base not on)
Also there is a store to buy beer or other things you forget, mustard, soda, whatever but it is much more expensive than on the base so we only bought things there when we were desperate!!!! Bring enough from home! Good Luck!!!
