AMEYAYOKOCHO (commonly known as AMEYOKO) was the site of the Tokyo black market district during the years of the occupation.

It is often referred as the "American Corner" because it is where you can find American goods.

This is a very busy marketplace crowded with shoppers and vendors selling a wide vari-ety of items.

Most Japanese foods are available here for prices considerably lower than elsewhere. Stores usually open at 10:00 and close at 19:00.

The main street of the AMEYA YOKOCHO district is located along the Yamanote Line tracks, between Ueno and Okachimachi Stations.
