Shipment of POV Policy Change – In accordance with the Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR), Privately Owned Vehicles (POV) are only allowed to be shipped port to port and no line haul to ultimate duty station is authorized. Although in the past, Yokosuka service members were able to pick up and drop off their POV here in Yokosuka but due to financial and JFTR limitations, the service of picking up and dropping off POVs in Yokosuka will no longer be available. While you are still authorized to ship vehicles in and out of Japan, as of June 15, 2009, personnel receiving and/or shipping their POV will be required to do so through the 836th Transportation Battalion, SDDC, Yokohama North Dock vice here in Yokosuka. The POV processing center at Yokohama North Dock is for all Department of Defense agencies within the Kanto Plain.
