Diamond City mall near Yokota AB expect to pay 100.00 for two poses on a DVD and it takes them about three weeks to produce the DVD. They won't give you the pictures by any other means.... thumb drive, email etc. We tried to get them faster but they didn't seem to grasp the concept for some reason.

If you want all the poses..... it will be much more $$

I'm sure there are other places closer if you're in Yokosuka or somewhere else.

If you are in Yokosuka, there is one on the 4th floor at Daiei Mall. Its very pricey. Or you could do what I did for my neices. I bought them a kimono and hired a photographer (Photographic by Tara Nemec) to take outdoor pictures. She charges $60 and you can hire her hair and makeup artist who charges $50. It came out beautifully!

This looks like a great place too but the one I was talking about is Studio Alice.

Is Studio Alice the one at the Daiei Mall? I've heard it was expensive but was wondering how expensive are we talking? I too would love to get pictures like this done with my 4 year old but haven't started pricing anything yet. Do they speak English at the place at the mall? I'm limited on my Japanese language skills right now.

    Try looking at this thread:

Where to get portraits taken in Japan?
    http://www.japanbases.com/forums/aft/1566.aspx

In regards to STUDIO ALICE, I took my daughter there when she was younger. Its a little expensive, but what isnt in Japan?

The best henshin (dress up studios) are down in Kyoto, specifically around the hanamachi (Gion Kobu, Gion Higashi, Miyagawacho, Pontocho, Kamishichiken). These are all real geisha districts and some of them have henshin shops. There are both good ones and bad ones, though.

I travel to Kyoto whenever I can as I do photography of the real geisha (called geiko btw) who live there. If anyone is interested in that, please check out my photos:

The "Geiko Henshin" set features a henshin I did from 2 different Kyoto locations. I really recommend doing henshin in Kyoto.

There is a newish photo studio across from Daiei, next to the VFW bar at the end of the Honch. It's across 16 from Daiei and to the left of the art center (with the 100 yen store). I'm not sure if they do the make up, but they do the kimonos apparently from the photos they have in the windows.
