I'm a contractor planing on putting my car up for sale soon. Is this something most people do themselves? I live off-base so it would cause a delay between showings as I'd have to take the train there.

Since this car was $1200 and I'll probably sell $1000, I doubt paying someone a commission to sell it would make sense. Your thoughts?

People put up flyers all the time in Sasebo for cars. You could look into doing that.
It'll all be alright. Cayla Rose's mommy. =]

Throw it on a lemon lot........ or one of the base websites. Put a sign on it and park it your BX/PX is another option.

You can sell anything, if it's cheap enough. If you need the car to get back & forth, then you can't put it on the lemon lot. Advertise here on JB, put up flyers esp around TLF (new families PCSing in will see it), and flyers in housing.

I had a 12-year-old car with bad tires & no JCI, I sold it in 3 days simply by asking $475. It all comes down to how bad you wanna unload it. The last thing you want the day before you fly out is this car still on your hands; it can be a real headache if you're too greedy & asking too much.

Discounting from $1200 to $1000 won't make sense if you used up all the JCI. If there was like 2 years JCI when you bought it, and now there's 6 months plus the car is 18 months older you have to reduce price $500 just to make it an equitable deal for the buyer. That's not a discount, it's just so they can buy JCI in 6 months.

I think he hit the nail on the head with that one, if you want to sell it fast sell it cheap, another option is to drop it 100.00 a day until someone buys it.

haha i miss car prices there. Cars here in Misawa go for 2500-4500 for a POS, and thats "cheap" for here. They call it the Misawa markup. Shoot when i first got to Yoko people from the Kitty Hawk were giving away their cars.

What is wrong with the classifieds on this site? If you get 5 responses to "how to sell" you might get 10 to the actual attempt!
