I am going to be reporting with my husband to yokosuka in jan 2012. I have a friend that will be in Kedena.. How far is it from each other? Can you drive? How long does it take?

Yokosuka is on mainland Japan by Tokyo I believe. Kadena is on Okinawa, one of the most Southern islands. You can't drive it you'd have to fly it. RT tickets are about $500 or so I think. You might be able to hop a Space A.

I see... wow...what are the chances of getting a hop?

There should be hops from Atsugi to Okinawa. Atsugi is much closer to Yokosuke than is Yokota (an hour with no traffic).

We flew to Okinawa from Tokyo's Haneda airport and it took us about 2.5 hours ... Didn't do it Space A though.

There are Space A flights that fly from Yokota AFB (where we, here in Yokosuka, would fly out from) to Kadena AFB in Okinawa 3-4 times a week. Exact dates cannot be told to any of us further out that 3 days prior, but you can sign up to be on the waiting list 60 days prior to when you want to fly. Personally, I think chances of taking a Space A from here to Okinawa are pretty easy. We're thinking of doing that this summer. (My husband and I just attended the Space A Class this past Wednesday.)

Skymark is a discount airline that operates out of Haneda. You'll get cheap tix with them. Haneda is much closer to Yokosuka than Narita is. Make sure you compare Skymark's fares before buying anything (they're not on Travelocity or Expedia.)
