This whole thread (topic) drives me crazy. I just find the whole thing ridiculous. I mean, we send our men and women off to war to fight for peace and freedom around the world, but when they come back home, we tell them that they can't wear what they want. I just find the whole thing ironic. I can understand having a dress code when you're on duty or at work, but when you're not working, you should be able to wear what you want. Parents should be parents and make sure their teenage daughters aren't walking around with skimpy shorts and skirts on, and that their boys aren't walking around with their pants down by their knees showing off their boxer-shorts. I just don't think it's the government or military officials responsibility to tell us what we can and can't wear.

What may be perfectly acceptable to one person may be extreme to another. We all have our own comfort level in what we want to wear. Some people might find cleavage offensive.....should the base officials ban all cleavage and require women to cover it up because it might "offend" s/one?

It seems like little by little, we keep letting the base decide what's best for us, and end up giving up our basic fundamental rights as Americans. At what point does it become too much? Maybe for some of you, the status quo is fine, but what happens when they continue to add more rules and restrictions that you no longer agree with? When we're all wearing burkas?!

I get that this is a military base, but just because it's a military base, it doesn't mean we should have to check our rights at the door.

So you've assumed that I am troll becuase i made a statement about a flame war.

No... I KNOW you were trolling because you made a statement about inciting a flame war, that's what trolls do.

Now, had you left that comment off your post I would have simply pointed you that a "If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, chances are, ITS A DUCK." is all well and good... except when some nit-wit doesn't know the difference between a duck and a goose. This isn't the US and people here were not raised with the same standards/attitudes when it comes to fashion. It's not rocket science, however people such as yourself can't seem to wrap your brains around that fact and continue to pass judgment. But... since you DID include that statement about flame war, well, it completely invalidated any legitimate points you might have been making in your post.
I was going to point some other things, and how you omitted my other points.  However with your reply I now see your forum personality and know it's pointless to do so.

So to provide your altruistic ego some strokes:  you are so right, I was wrong, I'll probably burn in form hell for the rest of my internet existence.
