So, I'm a bit of a health nut and our commissary where we're stationed now has some natural/organic food selections, but I was wondering if the commissary in Yokosuka has anything?  I'm talking about stuff like gluten-free foods, tofu & other mock meats, Boca Burgers, vegetarian/vegan foods (other than produce, of course).  What about rice milk?  If not, does the commissary allow people to request certain items?  Is it possible to find any such things off base?

The Yokosuka commissary has many of the things you are asking about. They have a small setion of morning star and boca burger (one reezer full) I have noticed they are getting a bigger selection of Gluten free items lately. There is pleny of Tofu and other veggie ffod products. They do have rice milk and you can special order items if it is on the disro list from the main order site. you just have to buy the case. They will also take request for new items and try to get them here and see how they sell. The Commissary here is noce and they try thier best to accommodate you. You can find tofu off base.

Our family eats the veggie food. Generally the veggie burgers and stuff is pretty much well in stock. And yes the gluten free area has gotten better. Enjoy!

The Yokosuka commissary does have a little section for gluten free things. We usually buy the gluten free spaghetti noodles, they taste exactly the same! We also want to try the gluten free pancakes!

The Yokosuka Commissary over the last few months has been attempting to carry manyof the items that are being requested of us. While we are at the mercy of higher up individuals we do have a fairly wide selection of items available in the store. Our Gluten Free section is 8 feet long, which is twice what DeCA HQ requests us to have. We have five new items on the way in and hopefully here in the next few weeks. We carry Gluten Free Bread in our freezer section as well as Morningstar, Boca Burger and a small sampling of veggie based products. I will admit we are lacking in our non meat product selection. DeCA as a whole though has just not been able to get enough interest it seems to expand in that direction yet.

ALock92...When I go back to work today I will check on the Nutro Max for Dogs. I know we carry Nutro for dogs but I am unaware of the different brands that are currently available.

By the way I am the Grocery Manager at the Yokosuka Commissary and at times practically seem to live there. If you happen to be in the store, stop me and ask any questions you would like. I am hard to miss. All the manager's actually have their pictures at the ID Desk so you can easily identify us and we are always happy to talk with our customers. Or you can PM me here on JapanBases. I docheck on a fairly regular basis, eventhough I do not always get on.

Now on to a different item request..... I have become addicted to a new type of Oreo Cookie. It is sooo yummy.
It is called Berry Burst Ice Cream Oreos. I could not get them in the commisarry at Ft. Belvior and had to go in town to get them so I doubt we can get them here yet but thought I would mention it to see. I have to admit to eating about 8 packages of them all by myself during the stress of this move. LOL

Ever play "Operator" where you whisper in someone's ear, and the message morphs at it gets whispered from person to person? So we went from a discussion of natural/organic/vegan foods to Berry Burst Ice Cream Oreos. What a transition!

Operator was a fun and annoying game to play as a kid. But I did open up to go in other directions when I introduced my postion at the store and basically said ask me questions.

As for the Berry Blast Ice Cream Oreos. I apologize but they are still not in our system. I did send out a request to our vendor about this product to see if we will be getting over here in the near future. Yet low and behold by the time I left work I had not received anything back from him. If I get anything I will update the forum.
