    Hey!  We finally got official orders to report to Yokosuka this August!  We're very excited to begin the entire overseas screening process & everything else to get things going.  Dependents are going to be able to go by August, right?!  I'm sure I'll have some more questions, but not too many quite yet.  One thing we noticed in the orders was some mention of not being able to bring the normal weight of household goods (only 75%).  We weren't really clear on that, but did anyone else have that experience?

    We just received our orders for Yokosuka to report in July and ours said nothing about not bringing the normal weight. I will definitely check into it (or have my hubby) and if I find anything out I will let you know.

    We have orders to report NLT May 15 and we were told that our weight limit was 9000 lbs for a family of 4. Our packout starts May 5th. Also, the 9,000 lbs includes what we have to leave behind in storage here in the states and our express shipment as well as the "Household Goods" that will be what is delivered to us in Yokosuka.

    Dependents can come now. The freeze has been lifted.

    Regarding weight limits, good general guidance is to minimize what you bring. Read around the "Reporting to Japan" section; people talk about appliances and large furniture. What you shouldn't bring, what doesn't fit, etc. If you end up offbase, houses are not only smaller, but they are broken into many tiny rooms. A sectional sofa set wouldn't work, nor a weight machine. King size beds can be a challenge. For onbase, I think there are floor plans on this website; check it out.
