Hi everyone my name is Mina,my husband got orders to go to atsugi 1st week of april, our dilema is regarding passports. I just received my citizenship certificate yippeeee =) and we don't know if getting the no fee passport is better than getting the tourist one 1st. We can't apply for both at the same time because they would need my certificate and as far as i know they process the no fee in a different place? Is there anybody here that had problems getting their no fee passport in time? even if they paid to get it expedited? Is it better to get the tourist passport when we get to japan? Please help us, i'm getting so frustrated trying to get answers from people in his command. I'd appreciate any type of info ....

They will not do tourist passports onbase you have to go to the embassy when you are in Japan. Contact Atsugi PSD an ask about no-fee. I would focus on the tourist passport for now. There is more paperwork involved with the no-fee or have your husband go to PSD on his current ship or base to see if he can no-fee before you leave.

Thank you for replying ex-navy dave. Yes his sponsor took care of the no fee passport application i think its called ds 56. I guess your right about getting the tourist passports first,it maybe expensive as hell but it's gonna be worth it since the no fee is strictly for japan-us & vice versa only. I'd let my husband know the info. you gave and we'll work on our tourist passport on monday...thank you thank you very much...
