Hello, looking for some information here.

I am looking for an App to translate written English to written Japanese and back to English again.  I know it exists, I seen it, I just don't remember what it was and can't find it in the Itunes store.

    Any help is appreciated.

Google translate will do this via HTML. I dont know about an iPhone app for it though.

I have Kotoba! on my iphone that does what you are asking.

What I would really like is an app that would let you take a picture of a kanji and then translate it. I had an old AU phone about 5 years ago that would let me do that. It came in pretty handy.

Does Kotoba need an internet connection to work? I only have an iTouch, not an iPhone. I've run into/bought far too many apps that need a connection to actually be of any use, but don't list that in the description in the iTunes Store.

It is designed for both the iphone and ipod. It is also free

    From the app's website:
This application is a multilingual Japanese dictionary for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The dictionary files are embedded in the application so that the dictionary is available when you need it the most (while travelling).

This is a large app 128mb.

Try JapanGoggles. It takes a little tinkering around with the pictures and you have to try to make sure your picture is clear and not too blurry. Otherwise it does pretty good although it is not perfect but I was able to figure out our remote controls and the washer/dryer at home using it.
