Why is it so difficult to find an Arnis instructor?

I would think with all the Filipinos in the community, someone knows Arnis.

My son is 5 years old. I want to get him into martial arts. He is half Filipino, so I would like to get him into a martial art that is related to his heritage.

Does anyone know if there is a school that teaches Arnis here in Japan?

    How about this one?

    http://www.shinkali.com/

I don't know the detail of these differences but they focuses "Kali" which, I think, a variation of "Arnis". They run classes at Yokohama and Shibuya (Tokyo).

I can vouch for Shin Kali.  after seeing this post, I decided to check them out.  I have been studying with them now off and on (due to ship sked) since May and love it!  Classes are currently offered in Yokohama and Shibuya, and lessons are primarily given in English.   There are 3 primary instructors and to get a trial, all you need to do is e-mail them.

Of note, the Instructors would like to open training in the Yokosuka area, but need to find a reasonably priced room to rent in the local area.  (They prefer to keep training off base since it is a weapons based art.)

If anyone knows of any community centers in the Yokosuka area (preferably close to Yokosuka-Chuo Station since that would be the train they arrive on) please let me know!  Also, if anyone wants more information, shoot them an e-mail or message me here.

The Shin Kali Academy teaches two primary styles of Martial Arts... V-Arnis Jujitsu and Pekiti Tirsia Kali, which is the same art taught to the Philippine Marine Corps and Force Recon Marines.  They teach weapons, empty hand, and ju-jitsu in their curriculum.
