Q: I recently reported to U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka. I have been advised that I need permission from Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka commanding officer for an additional vehicle. I am accompanied by my wife so I plan to register two cars. In addition, I have a motorcycle the Vehicle Registration Office (VRO) advises me that I need permission to register this vehicle. My wife has a 125cc Honda scooter that I was told did not need this approval, however, there seems to be some question whether it is required or not. I have rented a house in Zuishi that has a spacious two car port. Would you please advise me what my next step is to obtain permission to register these two bikes?

A: In accordance with CFAY instruction 5800.2F, article 16, section five, paragraph five states: “Married personnel E-5 and above and/or civilian equivalent are authorized one vehicle per licensed driver up to a maximum of two vehicles per family.” Article 16, section five, paragraph six states: “An exception to the number of vehicles registered policy will be granted to active MSF rider coaches.” You can submit for an exception to the policy for two additional vehicles.
