I am looking for directions to HARD OFF/HOUSE OFF that may be near Yokosuka, Ikego and/or Zushi. I would even entertain the thought of going close to Yokohama for one.
I have been to the one on Rt. 16 when you go left out of Womble Gate and it is near Red Lobster. I am looking for other locations in neighboring areas. Thanks so much for your help everyone.

We enjoy these stores as well. There are a couple on the road that goes to Kamakura (off of the 16). I believe its the 23?? If you're heading to Yokohama on the 16, after you pass the 24 (for Ikego) there's a sign for Kamakura (left turn) and theres 2 on that road.

If you have one of the gps devices they sell on base, you can input phone numbers and it will take you to the address associated with the number. So we go to the website and print all of the phone numbers (near by) and go from there.

    Here's their site:

Umm..Ok What is a "hard off"? I'm thinking it has to be a lot different from what I was picturing when I first read it...

I do not have one of those GPS devices that you are talking about. I unfortunately have only been to Kamakura on the train. Of course I have been on 16 though. I guess I don't pay attention to the signs, but will certainly look for the Kamakura exit you speak of. If there's 2 on that road alone, I definitely need to head there! Thanks so much Ed! if you can think of any others, let me know please. Also, if you think of any landmarks or anything to go along with the directions (I love landmarks, it helps guide me), that would be great too.

Chancie, HardOff is a second hand store... but operates a little different than what you would expect in the States. Unfortunately the prices are not as low as you'd expect but they have really nice things compared to a lot of trash you'd see Stateside. I just wish the clothes were as cheap, ha ha. Like you can get Bose speakers and Rolex watches. So normal things to high end.

You can dig through the Y50 bins, the Y105 books, and the Y200 sale racks for clothes. I got two jackets the other day for Y200 --awesome!

There are three that I frequent around the Yokosuka base but I'm horrible with directions since I'm usually the backseat driver when I go. Let me get them to you soon if no one answers.

Head out of you yokosuka base and turn left. Stay on that road and continue on it. It will eventually fork to the left. And you will begin along the ocean. You will pass by livin on your right. Just continue straight. You will then pass ave, continue straight. Eventually you will see hardoff and bookoff on your right hand side. Its on the opposite side of the street, so in order to get into that lane you will have to make a u-turn. The best way I get there is to continue straight and the road will merge to the left. Hang that left, do a U_turn and then go back the opposite direction. There will be a stop light at that intersection you made the left at, but you will make a right at the light heading the same direction you were coming. Now your on the opposite side of the road. Hard off and book off entrance will be on your left hand side. There are some trees blocking the entrance so drive slow and just turn in there. Its a small parking. On the other side of the building they have a larger parking if you want to go around the building once again. Good luck.

I went to the hard off on 16 and it was awful. it was so cluttered and expensive and it smelled like mold over by the shoes and purses. It was just so gross I could leave fast enough. Maybe I'm a freak, but it was just awful. I've also been to the one sorta near Kinugasa. It was smaller and mostly had clothes, but I certainly didn't see any great deals. I wasn't impressed, both places made my skin crawl.

Thanks for the directions everyone. i was able to find my way there with no problems! Now I am looking for a local area SPORT OFF, if anyone knows of one in the area. I know the the BOOK OFF on Hwy 16 that Adam mentioned had a few things in it, but not much. I was able to find all that I needed, but would like to look in a SPORT OFF if there is one close to Yokosuka base and someone has good directions on how to get there. Thanks everyone.

That is too bad. I know there are some a little further away from here, closer to Yokota base. If anyone has seen one closer to here, I would appreciate knowing about it.

The Sport Off is off route 16 in Sagamihara, about an hour from here. The House off in Kamakura just closed and was converted to a Book Off.
The House Off & Sport Off just past the Hodagaya Toll gate is smaller and the deals for sports equipment in decent, however, you can get it new during the monthly sales at Sports Authority in Kamiooka train station.
However, I find great deals there and once the clothes have been cleaned at the base cleaners, you would never know the difference.

lol, funny (although it took me a year to see it.)  In general, anything with "Off" is a discount or second-hand store.  My wife loves "Book Off" which is big around Hiroshima.  Don't know if you have it up there.

Yep, we have Book Off. There is one walking distance from Yokosuka Base. I LOVEEEEEEEE Book Off's Y100 deals!

There is a HardOff/BookOff combo off of 16 that is the best if anyone is in Yokosuka!
