Q: What is the oversight for Americable’s operation on base? $5 dollars a month rate increase, monthly fees for each TV in a household ranging from $3-$12 dollars and loss of the 10 percent discount for paying for internet for a year. Why do those who are here for the full 12 months have to suffer for Americable’s decision to cancel the internet discount? TV and internet is our best means of keeping up on what is happening in the United States. There standard answer for what programs to show is they are popular in the U.S. I understand, but how many times a week does one crime show need to be shown? There must be a process Americable uses, but I am unable to find out directly from them. Do you know the whole process for selecting channels and how to go about getting other channels added for review by the local viewers?

A: Dear valued customer, Americable regrets to inform you that effective July 1, we will no longer be offering the 10 percent discount for annual internet subscribers. Although this option was popular when we began offering internet services, the number of customers who take advantage of this promotion is now under 10 percent and the work involved in tracking these customers and processing their refunds upon transfer is no longer economically feasible. We apologize for the inconvenience and would like to let everyone know that the 15 percent discount for subscribers who also have cable television will remain in place and unchanged.
