Q: Is it possible at 4 p.m. each day to have two lanes at the Womble gate designated for traffic leaving the base? The center lane designated for traffic going directly to Route 16 and the left lane for people turning left. I use the Womble gate almost every day and end up waiting in a long line with many other vehicles wasting gas and time while someone up front sits at the exit of the far left lane waiting to go straight to Route 16 at the same time the other two lanes are being use very little for incoming traffic. This has been done many times before but the plan keeps changing.

A: We understand your concerns with time and gas. But it becomes a major traffic safety issue. We do not have the ability to control traffic when it goes outside the gate.
