We went to the 290 yen restaurant tonight.  Actually, everything is 305 yen  for beer, mixed drinks and food.  Anyway, they now have an English menu and is much easier.  It is located on the 8th floor of the building with Gold's Gym.  It is called Tsukino Shizuku.  Get there early, it fills up quickly.  The only drawback is that it is still a smoking restaurant. It is worth the trip off the reservation.

Sorry, it is located on the Blue Street in Yokosuka, on the same side as Bank of Yokohama. It is next to a panchinko place and a HAC drug. You can see the Gold's gym sign on the Blue street. There is also a karakoke place in that building. There are two elevators on the left of the pachinko place that will take you there. When we paid, they gave us a coupon for our next visit. Everything will be 260 yen.

There's a big pachinko place with red sign/lights. The two elevators to the left if you're facing the pachinko place are super slow so there's almost always a line for them on busy evenings. You can't miss it really =)

Yes, thank you for the directions. I frequent a couple Izakayas in the same building. Can't believe I missed that place!

We did a JB.com meetup at Doma Doma there. Here's the map I made for that. So same building, just 8th floor.

Hey Chunder, is that the top floor? Is it the one with the touch screen menus to order?
We went to one on the top floor -- well I'd been there twice, but it changed between visits. Food was OK, but they didn't have English menus and it was difficult to order and we ended up with a lot of food that wasn't to our liking. At least we tried it all though.

I think it is on the 7th or 8th floor. Just look for the sign that says "290" in the elevator. It does have the touch screen order pads. Now they have English on the touch screen pad so now you will know what you are ordering. They change the menu from time to time. I suggest you try the mican chu-hi. It has an actual whole mican in it. They have mini pizzas, great garlic fries, tofu, sushi and a bunch of other stuff.

We went last night and I was pretty impressed actually. I thought it'd be kinda low key but the restaurant looks nice and the food we ordered was well worth the price. Some of the items on the menu are smaller portions but others are the same amount you'd get elsewhere for more yen.

We even got our own private room/area which I'm pretty fond of so you can relax and spread out with friends. The touch screen is easy to use and the drinks come quick when ordered! They even have the option to make your chu-hi/sour stronger for an extra Y50. Nice! I even liked the option where you can see how much you've already brought your tab up to (no surprises), and then it'll calculate the cost between so many people so nobody has to do drunken math, ha ha.

Very cool, will be going again.

I also think this would be a great place for a JB.com meet-up. The set meals are super cheap too.

I gotta try both those restaurants! They both sound good! Hey Elizabeth.....what did you like at the 290 izakaiya on the menu? Anything in particular that you would recommend?

It was fun, but make sure you go early, it was filling up quick!

Hmmm, we ordered some pretty standard items so I want to go back to try some other stuff. The tsukune, yakitori, fried rice and basics were great. We punched in a couple orders for the seared tuna sushi, it was delicious! You get five pieces and it just melts in your mouth, lol. The edamame comes in over generous serving. And they have chi-his that are regular and then "fresh-fruit" ones. We ordered pineapple and it was SUPER sweet.

I'd like to go back and try some non-safe items on the menu and cocktails (we were chugging the draft beer, ha ha). I guess what it's missing is some of the regular sashimi (they have some, nothing fancy), seafood and beef items that you're used to at an izakaya... but that's of course because it's so cheap there.

We went on Saturday and it was very busy. We had 9 people and got a table that was plenty big enough for all! I definitely will pass on this recommendation. The price is right and the dishes were surprisingly good. I had a couple fresh fruit pineapple chu-his and thought I'd gone to heaven. YUM!

Mollie, look at the map above that I provided. If you know where the Mikasa mall is walk past that and then keep walking until you see the pachinco parlour on the right side. There's a Gold's Gym there and tons of restaurants in the same building. There is usually people standing outside handing out coupons. (By the pachinko parlour there's two elevators that will have place cards for the restaurants --this is on the 8th floor.)

It gets quite smoky in there and so do most Izakayas. Not sure if you'd want to bring the kiddos --Izakayas are more of a night out for the adults.

They are handing out 10% off coupons now. They are good until the end of August. They are regular coupons or ones in the shape of a fan.
We go early and during the week in order to avoid the smoke.
