    Q: What are the Blood Alcohol Content regulations for Japan both on and off base?

    A: DWDI (Driving While Drinking Indicated) is 0.03 – 0.49 punishable by loss of driving privileges for 60 days. This does not include administrative and Non Judicial Punishment that could follow or Japanese prosecution. DUI (Driving Under the Influence) is 0.05 – 0.79 punishable by loss of driving privileges for one year. A letter of notification will be sent to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) where your stateside license was issued. DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) is an amount greater than 0.08 punishable by loss of driving privileges for two years. A letter of notification will be sent to the DMV where your stateside license was issued.
