    Co-Co's....

Level 10 dish.. They have a challenge, I think its a HUGE HUGE plate.. Mostly rice, but its a lot of food.

They used to offer it, if you could finish the entire thing, it was FREE! They would also take your picture and put it up on the wall. I dont know if they still do it..

Good stuff Adam, but he is looking for the heat. Does level 10 mean the dish is very spicy?

Yes you can always order the level 10... Its hot... very hot.. some people I know can handle it, but not many..

The thing I dont know about is the contest. That contest is more about eating a HUGE HUGE portion.

He may just want to try the level 10 first.. See how he likes it, and if he can handle the pressure..
Let us know how it goes.. I will look around for some more places that offer hot stuff in Japan. My wife said there were some Japanese television shows about it, so we will try and find some stuff about it.

I used to liked place called ENMA RAMEN noodle shop.

They had Jigoku ramen which means "Hell Noodle".

It was really spicy and had a very good taste.

However unfortunately I just found out they are closed...

So I searched spicy noodle shop in Japan and found another one similar that offers very spicy ramen.

I have never been to this place but its very famous so you might have to wait in the line.

I think this will offer a good challenge. I wanna go there one day, too.

You can see there menu from this link below:

They have a chicken dish at Mike's just outside the main gate that's hot!  Not much flavor, it tastes like it's marinated in tabasco sauce.

I also like it hot and eat hot peppers at least two meals every day.  I eat so many that I grow them.  Currently growing Biker Billy's jalapeno, chocolate habanero, cayenne, barney, long slim red, and the legendary ghost pepper.

    Good luck with the challenge!!!

I am currently growing habaneros and I am interested in growing the ghost pepper.  Where did you get the seeds?

    Chunder,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.  I just checked back on this topic to see where more spicy food can be found.

There are so many places on the web that sell hot pepper seeds.  I ordered mine from  https://www.pepperjoe.com/

Since then, I've read some negative comments about the integrity of his seeds, but I am well satisfied.  The ghost pepper looks like all the pics I see and is, indeed, the hottest pepper I have ever tasted.  His barney pepper is nice, too, good flavor, but I need to cut up at least half of the pepper to feel the pain.

The ghost pepper has a low germination rate, but don't give up, I think they are worth growing.

Too bad you  have to wait until spring to plant.  I"ve got mine  in a big pot and will be moving it to my little greenhouse for the winter.  It's still got quite a few green peppers that I am waiting to ripen.

I'd be happy to share one with you when they ripen.  You could even try to germinate the seeds.

Thanks for the info.  I looked at pepper joe's website.  I am not sure if they can ship overseas.  It is hit or miss if it gets past customs.  That would be great if you do not mind sharing a couple of peppers.  I have had a pretty good record of growing peppers indoors.  I use a Q-tip to spread the pollen from flower to flower.

I have also been making a hot sauce with peppers and persimons.  The persimons really take the edge off the peppers and balance the flavor.
Persimons are in season soon.  Let me know if you are interested in the recipe.

Coco's doesn't place your picture on the wall or offer the curry for free at a level 10. Or at least they have never done it for me every time I order it lol! There is very very minimal spicy food in Japan. Even then finding spicy food that has a good flavor is also extremely difficult. The Crazy Whopper from Burger King is probably been the spiciest thing I've eaten since I've been here and it was still tolerable. It has a teriyaki-esque flavor which I'm not really fond of but it wasn't bad. The Angry Whopper level 5 has a better flavor but is not as hot.

There is a place in Food City under More's that sells Blair's death sauces.

There is also a Thai restaurant just off blue street that has some spicier dishes and is pretty good.

Oh and Arashi ramen shop which is right down from the 70 yen per stick yakitori stand has the option for 100 yen to put in a ball of pepper paste into your ramen which can make it like a level 6-7 curry from coco's.

My husband gets a CoCo's level 10 and doesn't sweat a drop. Mike's isn't so hot. We haven't found anyplace that compares so far. I'm sure he'll be interested in that ramen though.
We order ghost pepper sauces online: http://www.hotsauce.com/Default.asp

I would be interested in growing ghost peppers, but I would forget about them and they would eventally die. LOL!

Tsumik, COCO Ichiban will put your photo on the wall if you finish 1300 grams curry in 20 minutes. Level 10 isn't a key for that.

Garlic Joes in Yokohama is a pretty "spicy" food. Not hot but lots of spice. Maybe something to try when you want a mild day
To enjoy Japan you gotta go out and experience it! Need a buddy, msg me!

Here is my advice.... if you can find a good Thai restaurant with a real Thai or Laoation cook ask them for the spiciest dish, putting emphasis on it being Thai hot... good luck, my 5'0" 115 lb. Thai wife will eat things that will make most men cry, for all intensive purposes when she orders a hot dish I consider it inedible.

Thai chili peppers while they may not be considered the hottest peppers in the world are prepared in such a way that the food is nearly impossible to eat.

Mikes right outside of base will give you really spicy food you just have to say extra extra spicy and they will give you the hottest sauce they have! I didn't even eat the rest of my chicken enchilada it was too hot!
