Dinner at Wellington's - New Sanno Hotel, Tokyo Japan

Me and my wife went to dinner last weekend at New Sanno for Dinner.
We had a great time as always.  The staff there are wonderful! I really recommend here if you just want to get away, and have a great meal.

By the way, the baked oysters are amazing!  We always order them.  In fact, this past time, they said there was a mistake, and they were out of the normal sized ones, and they gave us these HUGE ones!  They were delicious.

Just know, that either way you do it, "Course Menu" or the "A la Cart Menu", it will be about $50.00 per person..

Ive done both and prefer the "A la Carte Menu"

I usually always get the following combo:

    - Baked Oysters (See above)
    - Shrimp Cocktail (There are 5 shrimp, but they are huge!)
    - French Onion Soup..(Really good.. It has cheese spilling over the sides when they bring it)
    - Beef Wellingtons, I think its $35.00 for this plate, but its a Filet Mignon.

This usually is too much food for just me, because they also have a HUGE variety of bread they give you throughout the meal, so dont get too stuffed on the bread.

Anyhow, this past time, since we didnt want to have left overs, me and they wife split some stuff.

    This was our order:

    (2) Baked Oysters
    (2) French Onion Soups
    (1) Shrimp Cocktail
    (1) Beef Wellingtons

The Beef Wellingtons, since its a main dish comes also with a side salad.

We split this main dish, and it was PLENTY for the both of us. I think the bill was around $90.00 then you leave the $20.00 tip.. So about $110.00 $55.00 each...

Of course if you both order main dishes and the additional stuff from the A la Carte menu it can get a lot more expensive.

The course menus are about a 6-8 course menu, which is somewhat set. You get a few choices to pick from for each step of the course. Each course menu, I think runs $49.95 per person.

    Enjoy...

Adam - Thanks for posting this and the great photos as well. I took my wife there last year for our anniversary and had an excellent meal. There were a lot of people and we sat in one of those private booths. A guy kept coming up to us and giving us bread. I must have had about twenty rolls before the meal showed up!

Wow that sounds great! My husband and I plan on spending our anniversary (next month) there but we have never been there. We just always hear wonderful things about that Hotel. Is it a far drive or is it best to just take a train?? Does anyone know where I can find a map???

I agree, their staff is amazing! I second the Oysters Rockefeller, and also recommend the veal chop, if you are not opposed to eating veal. I've never tried any of their desserts, but they will give you truffles with your coffee if you order it, and I find it the perfect end to a great meal! One last thing: although they accept walk-ins, it's best to call ahead and reserve a booth--especially if you're dining a deux.
