Q: Could we limit all households on Yokosuka base, with only a few critical exceptions, to just one registered vehicle per household? This would not be a major sacrifice, considering we already restrict our younger Sailors from having a car, and most of us can get by with one car in Japan, if no car at all. This would greatly alleviate our traffic/parking situation on base.

The Yokosuka City and Chamber of Commerce is looking for ways to better serve the Yokosuka Base community by asking for your response to the following survey questions: • What is your favorite restaurant in Japan and why? • What is your favorite store in Japan and why? Submit your response by e-mail to Seahawk-Umitaka@fe.navy.mil or in person to Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka Public Affairs office, building 3154, room 213, by March 7. to ease the congestion and parking problems. Reducing the number of SOFA-sponsored cars is an option that would only be used as a last resort, since many of our families are either dual military or have two working adult members. The community can help by only registering one vehicle and by increasing the use of public transportation, taxis, and carpooling before we consider such drastic measures.
