    Boy Scouts of America 100th Anniversary Gala Celebration

    The Far East Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of the scouting movement Oct. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Empire Room of the New Sanno Hotel in Tokyo.

    More than 200 people are expected to attend this event to include representatives from both the BSA National Office and the Scouting Association of Japan.

    The majority of attendees are the leadership of American Scouting units throughout the Far East.

    This encompasses most American military bases and embassies in Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia.

    There will be a recognition ceremony for a few council adult leaders. Awards will include the Silver Antelope and Silver Beaver Awards as well as a selectee to the 100th Anniversary BSA Hall of Heroes.

    The keynote speaker for the event is Jim Terry, who is the BSA Assistant Chief Scout Executive and Chief Financial Officer.
