    I just wanted to get some more information about pay and allowances for mil to mil couples as far as OHA and COLA rates. An first hand information would help because the DFAS is not clear. Thank you

    I'll let you know for sure as soon as we get our first paychecks in the next couple weeks, but we have been told that we will receive up to 2 OHA's, one single and one with dependents, one utility allowance, 1/2 each, and will each receive COLA, one single and one with dependents.  You also each get TLA when you first get here.

    I too am in the same situation.  I have asked around but haven't gotten a solid response.  I don't have my hard copy orders yet, but will soon.  I have the same exact question.  How does the OHA rate work with mil to mil moving out to Yokosuka, and what exactly are we getting for the utilities and what not.  Please Help!

    I know this is an older thread, but I'm hoping you have gotten your pay figured out and can give me a hand. We are also mil-mil and will be coming out in May of 12. I started a new post in the "Reporting" section, and I would love anything you can tell me about your experiences. We have been in San Diego for over 15 years and have never moved so this is a HUGE change for us.

    Usually this website is good on following up, it does have a few followers, but they seem to have dropped the ball on this one, lol. The OHA is split in half. You do not get one "single" and one "w/dependants". It's simply "single" and "single" OHA. With that said, finding a nice house will be noooo problem. Getting out here will be a headache, but it is all worth it, in my opinion. My wife and I both get our individual COLAS, but we only get 1 Utilities payment (it's only fair, seeing as how we are under one roof).
    Let's see,
    We got here and got placed in the lodge;
    30 days to find a place (stay hot on it to find the best deal)
    It's serious cash when it comes down to moving in. I personally had to let go of 18,000 dollars to get the keys to my place. Big number right, lol. Don't let it scare you, it's all re-imburstable; except for the security deposit. But I here ppl find a way to get that back too, before they leave.

    Biggest thing is: The navy only helps you get into your first place. If you decide to move again, it's all on your dime. And that big wad of cash is no laughing matter. I hope this helps a little.

    With 378,000 Yen ( about 5,000 dollars monthly) at my disposal, finding a house was almost a laughing matter. (E-5 to E-5)
    For OHA you only get what's on your contract.

    Thanks so much! We're still waiting on orders to get the ball rollin', I think this may be the worst part. I really want to get us Sponsors and start figuring out when for sure we will head out. It looks like we'll be living out in town, I just need to convince my husband that it's the best idea and start trying to figure out what comes with us, what stays here and what needs to GO before we take off.

    Our biggest "my bad" was to bring furniture to fit a house we had yet to move into. In other words, if I could do it again I would sell my living room furniture before coming out here. I wouldn't gamble bringing a King size bed, lol.

    That's no issue, we only have a queen. And really, we don't have that much furniture. And most of it is contemporary and small. I'm just worried about mt husbands Home Theater stuff fitting in and sounding good. It's kind of his "thing".

    My poor kids will need more furniture anyway, they have TINY rooms in our current place.
