SRF-JRMC Commanding Officer Capt. Steven Stancy Presents Certificates to Japanese Apprentices

By Keiichi Adachi, CFAY Public Affairs

Two graduates of Apprentice Class 22 recently completed their apprentice training at U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRFJRMC). Masayuki Mito and Go Shimizu were honored with certificates presented by SRF-JRMC Commanding Officer Capt. Steven Stancy. Both attended the 62nd Annual Southern States Apprenticeship Conference held in Atlanta, Ga. and returned to report their experiences to Stancy.

“The most impressive elements that I saw during the conference were the Americans’ ability to debate, their strong curiosity, and their solidarity with people, even with those whom they have only just met for the first time, said Mito. “Their positive attitude towards the meeting was impressive.”

Shimizu said, “I was able to learn what they think about their American Apprenticeship program and got a lot of ideas and a sense of value. I strongly hope to incorporate such a program in Yokosuka.”
