I am seeking to relocate to Japan (Yokosuka/ Yokohama) and seeking a Contract or GS position.  I have 17 years of IT Experience in Voice, Data, Video in the areas of Systems Engineer, Network Infrastructure, VTC (Tandberg & Polycom) and Network Management.

My current area of expertise is in the area of VTC (Video Teleconferencing) Security Encryption and AV Technologies. IT jobs for GS over here seem to open and close quickly. We just hired two IT's a couple months ago. When I see IT jobs open up they are GS -11 and most are local hire if you look at the base job boards or USA jobs. Not all local hire jobs get posted on USAjobs it seems.

I have discoved that locating a DOD Contract job commands a higher salary and less of the politics. During the last few months, I have found opportunities with the following DOD contractors:

Booz Allen
CACI
SAIC
C4 Planning
CSC
and a handful of other companies.

Civil Service jobs are always much more stable, but they don't provide the lateral movement of a DOD Contract position. Networking on Linkedin and maintaining ones credentials is the way to go.
