Q: Why does a family of five have the same amount of trash receptacle space as a family of two? We obviously generate a larger amount of waste than a family of two, even though we are avid recyclers. Our outdoor trash bin is always overflowing on both of our trash pick up days. This attracts stray animals that pick through the garbage and make a mess at night. We would like to know if there is any way possible for larger families to request and receive extra garbage and recycle cans to avoid the unsightly and unsanitary mess stray animals cause.

A: All townhouse units at Yokosuka, Ikego and Negishi are provided with two 50 gallon trash containers per housing unit. The blue “non-burnable waste” containers are emptied once a week and the grey “burnable waste” containers are emptied twice a week. The existing trash pick up schedule covers all family compositions. We need your cooperation to break down items that accumulate space so that the trash will fit in the provided containers. Additional trash containers cannot be provided at this time due to existing trash disposal contract conditions.
