Effective Aug. 13, 2010, Primary Care services will no longer be provided at BHA Yokohama (Negishi).

All medical records will be transferred to U. S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka at that time.

Please visit U.S. Naval Hosptial Yokosuka for all non-emergency care.

To schedule an appointment, call 243-5352.

If this is an emergency, please call 911 from a land line for emergency ambulance response.

    Dear Negishi Community Members,

It is with great regret that I write to you today announcing that we will not be able to provide routine primary care services at Branch Health Annex Yokohama on board CFAY Housing Detachment Negishi after August 13, 2010.

We are consolidating primary care services from this location to the core hospital facility in Yokosuka in order to best serve all of our beneficiaries in this area.

In the next three weeks, starting this Monday, we will be in transition and will offer service at the clinic on Mondays and Fridays for routine appointments.

According to our historical analysis, two days a week will provide enough time for the number of appointments normally seen at this clinic in any given week.

After this transition, we will also be transferring all medical records to the core hospital facility in Yokosuka so they are available for future appointments at our core hospital facility.

Emergency ambulance services will remain unchanged. If you have a medical emergency while on base, please call 911 emergency ambulance response. For all other non-emergency care, please visit the core hospital facility.

The reduction in services is due, in part, to short term staffing shortages caused by our continued medical support for war fighters in overseas contingency operations and other Navy missions world-wide.

This summer and fall, we will deploy nearly 70 medical providers, nurses and corpsman to care for Soldiers, Sailors and Marines across the globe.

We are extremely proud to serve our nation in this way, but we also understand that it can create challenges for members of our community. For that, we are deeply sorry.

Actions such as this are not taken lightly. We have carefully reviewed and exhausted all possible options before finalizing this decision.

The fact is, if we continue to provide primary care services at this location, it will decrease timely medical care access for all our beneficiaries and waste some of our available medical resources.

We value your input and opinion and appreciate any comments you may have. Please forward them to our customer service office at customer@med.navy.mil.

We will continue to work with the community to make sure we are doing the very best we can to meet your medical needs.

Again, I apologize for this inconvenience and hope that staffing levels will return to levels which can support these services in the future.

    Respectfully,
    Captain Kevin D. Moore
U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka Commanding Officer
