We found a baby centipede in our kitchen today- my son stepped on it- luckily he seems ok, no bite mark, redness or swelling, but he said his toe hurt (I think he was just scared).  The centipede got away but we just found it and after a half can of raid, it's having a painful death.

But then I vaguely remember being told not to kill them- will my kitchen now be infested?  I put it a bug jar and put it outside... I wanted to save it to show to the exterminators.

I can't seem to find good solid info on identifying them and what to do if bit or stung by one.  We all have the heebie-jeebies now and are *gasp* wearing our shoes in the house.

    Photos of my beastie-

Try to get something from D2 or Cainz Homes. Most of the bug killer items are grouped together and there are pictures of what bugs they exterminate. You may even try bringing the jar with you and show them at the service desk. I have found that 9 times out of 10 they will help you. Good luck!

I know when we lived in a single family home our cat would eat them and cockroaches! Every once in a awhile you would see him crunching some thing and sure enough nearby there would be a leg or two he missed! Thus we never had a problem with them. So maybe a cat would be the answer.
