Hey I just wanted to ask, I know I should trust the vet., but my dog just got his rabies vaccine, and b/c Japan requires 2 w/ the microchip. He's only had a microchip since April and I got his regular yearly rabies vaccination a month early, in August, for our deployment.  They want to give him another vaccine 31 days after the August vaccine, so they can wait another 31 days and give him the titer test under the Japan regulations. Does this seem like over-vaccinating to anyone else?  Has anyone else had to do this for there dog? My dog is 5yrs old. and has had an annual rabies vaccine up until now right on schedule.

We had to do it to our dog. We had been using a civilian vet and the only way we could not "over" vacinate was to go to the USDA and have them certifiy the vacinations. Our dog is 7 years old. We have not had any issues with this and the FAVAN came back fine.

Thanks for the help. It looks like he's getting his second vaccination in Sept. and then 21 days later we're getting his FAVAN test.

Just stay on top of all your dates for the dog. Make sure you let the airport know 40 days in advance too! Good luck see you in Japan

According the the Andrews AFB vet where I had my cats shots done, Japan wants your pets over vaccinated.
