    2 questions

Does anyone have any Japanese baby stores they recommend?

Are there any Babies R Us locations that are easy to get to by train.

    Thank you

Since my wife and I are expecting later on this year, we have been visiting a lot of baby stores. My wife knows a ton of great places to shop. I will have her come on here and post them.

I ordered some stuff from BabiesRUs.com but its been over 5 1/2 weeks, still havent received the package. We ordered from Walmart.com the same day and we got the Walmart package 4 days later.

I dont know if it was just a mix up with BabiesRUs or what, but it seems like its really taking a long time.

Online shopping is great, if you have the time to wait.

I dont know what base your on, but you can check out onbase at the baby store. they have quite a few deals I have noticed. They come and go, but I think they have a pretty good selection.

They recently opened an Elfin Doll in the back of the large AVE (near Livin and Homes) in Yokosuka. When walking through there the other day, they had loads of baby stuff and had some really inexpensive kids' clothes. You might luck out there.

I like Akachan Honpo in Lalaport, they have everything. I wouldn't recommend buying a stroller or a car seat from there though, unless you are willing to spend A LOT of money on those items! Happy Shopping!

If you know where the daiei is on 16 going towards negishi that is located in Kanazawa Bunko, they opened a childrens shop about three or four months ago. It is very similar to a Gymboree back in the US. It is located on the 1st floor of Daiei and it is called "Motherways" They have the CUTEST baby items . All items are priced between 980 and 2000 yen. I was just there today. They have the cutest leggings for girls but they also have a huge selection of VERY ADORABLE boy clothing .I shop for our daughters clothing there. . It is a great place to shop. Also, on the 3rd floor is a smaller clothing store but it is the actual Daiei stores baby clothing department. Right now they are having sales on the majority of their clothing items and they have many items priced at 500 yen or less.

Also, if you are looking for a really cheap store with only baby and maternity items....Take 16 going toward Negishi about 20 minutes(depending on traffic)follow it until you see Jonathans resteraunt on your left. Go through the light at Jonathans Restraunt , at the second light after you pass Johnathans you will see a 7/11. or Lawsons on the right, turn right at the light. Follow the road till it dead ends, turn right, follow that road until you see a large Department store on the Right. There is a Viale and Jusco.(Parking is free for 2 hours, regardless of whether you buy or don't buy) I always park on the right hand side of the parking garage. Enter into the store  and on the second floor there is a baby and maternity store. They have great prices on their baby items. 200 yen to 1999 yen. Most items are priced below 800 yen. It is very large. They carry some organic items too. I recently bought several outfits for a friend who just had a baby. I bought everything in Organic cotton that I could. I got a 3 pack onesies in organic cotton for 600 yen. They were very cute then I bought matching hats and booties. I also bought a bouncy seat that was originally priced at 12000 yen for 4000.  They had just got new stock in. But the chair turned into a seat for later use. It was very plush. In the US it would have cost around $70-80  for the same style etc...Check it out.

belladonna, are you talking about Nishimatuya?

    Nishimatsuya page on Viale site:
    http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~viale/s...an-205.htm

There are 2 Nishimatsuya shops in Yokosuka, both are part of AVE stores.

One is at AVE Heisei store (Addr: 3-13-2 Heisei, Yokosuka, Phone: 046-821-4600), very close to the CFAY base.
Put this location into Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/), then you will see the location: (35.271553, 139.685296)

The other one is at AVE Sahara. (Addr: 3-21-1 Sahara, Yokosuka, Phone: 046-834-3161)
    Google Maps location: (35.234335, 139.679605)

I'm not sure how large Nishimatuya at Yokohama Viale, but the product line-up may be similar at all Nishimatuya stores.

No, both these shops are actually located in Tomio-oka. They may be a part of the AVE stores but are in a different location. In and on the building it says" Aeon " stores.
    I have attached a map http://sp.chizumaru.com/dbh/aeon/de...d=10531060

(Jusco Seaside Shop)   Kanagawa ken Yokohama shi Kanazawa ku Namiki 2-13-1

    ジャスコ金沢シーサイド店
    236-0005
    神奈川県横浜市金沢区並木2-13-1
    045-784-0005

It is located in the kanazawa seaside close to the seaside outlet mall. You can take the yokoyo to Namiki. Exit at Namiki and you can see it. It is close to COSTCO to .

There is a huge 100 yen store too. I go there almost daily to pick up groceries etc...I have only seen Americans/ foreigners twice in the past year.

    Great Info Guys!

I was just about to post same information about JUSCO Seaside shop.

    http://shop.aeonretail.jp/jusco/kanazawaseaside/

I think it was bigger than AVE Nishimatsuya.

I came across this forum while looking for information on baby stuff. There was a post a few days ago about giving away free baby bottle and i think it's open to all residents in Japan.

    http://cosmofamilies.com/blog/2010/08/24/bornfree%C2%AE-giveaway-glass-baby-bottle/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://cosmofamilies.com/blog/2010/...by-bottle/

The website has plently of information for families, though i think it might be more targeted for people who are nearer to Tokyo. So perhaps you might find this interesting? http://cosmofamilies.com/blog/

I've never been to Babies R Us but there is a Toys R Us with a bunch of baby stuff that is accessible from the JR Yokosuka Line. The station is Higashi Totsuka. You can look up the train schedule on www.jorudan.co.jp in English! We actually prefer American baby goods, though.

Things in other countries only seem weird if you only apply everything to your own cultural context. :-)
