anyone taken an AMC flight from Yokota to Seattle? What has been your experience? Did it take you a long time to catch a flight? I'm flying as catagory 4.

We took one home last November, on EML so we were a Cat 2 I think. The only problem we had was the plane had broken down and it was almost a week before they had another flight leave. The layovers in Misawa and Alaska also felt extremely long. But even with those problems it definately beat the $2000+ it would have cost us to fly home otherwise.

    Replies from my facebook page:

Yes..took one back in 2006. It was like being cattle herded onto a plane. Cramped and none too comfortable. Would definitely go commercial if I was to do it again.

Plenty of room if you get on a supply flight!

Another reply on my facebook page about this topic:

yeah - it was horrible - first they found a grasshopper on the plane and had to spray the plane down. Then we had to wait an hour for GOJ to certify the plane and then wait another hour for clear air in the plane. Then the non-stop went to OKI where it stopped and we de-planed, cleared customs (not sure why), reboarded after another hour and then we were off again - where we stopped in Juneau because we didn't have enough fuel. Then finally on to our destination - 8 hrs late and missed all connecting flights.

Crazy... why would you do customs for an internal Japan flight? Also, it's risky to book connecting flights when flying Space-A. Unless you allow maybe 24-hours connecting time, there's good odds you'll miss the connection. Finally, if you are low-pri (I'm a retiree) then def DON"T fly at peak season: Summer, spring break, holidays.

If you can do that, be flexible, and keep a mellow attitude, then Space-A can be great. If you've got a tight schedule, you'd probably better book commercial.
