Our Apple desktop seems to be broken. When you turn the power on all we get is the white screen of death. Does anyone know someone who works/repairs apple computers. I'm trying to avoid taking it to the Apple store. Thanks!

We've had that happen to use a few times. It's probably your hard-drive that needs to be replaced... I hope everything was backed up. But it is something you can fix yourself by just buying a new one and replacing it... unfortunately.

This is just pure speculation, but that sounds like our problem we had, multiple times.

    Jenna,
There are things you can try to troubleshoot before you bring it in to Apple. Find your Mac OS disks and load the Restore or System tools (not sure on the names but they're labeled) and restart your Mac again. Insert the Mac OS X Install CD or DVD.
Restart Mac, immediately after the bong, hold down the C key until the Apple logo appears.
When the Installer reaches the INTRODUCTION phase, click on Utilities at the top of the screen, and drop down to Disk Utility.
    Click the First Aid tab.
Highlight the boot hard drive volume or partition.
    Click Repair Disk.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 until the scan comes up all clean and good (and run it one more time).
Quit Disk Utility and the OS Installer and reboot.
Check out this site and Apple's support page if you can get online:

I am with Henry here.. if you get a white screen, it means that the boot firmware (BIOS in the windows world) cannot find the boot sector on your internal HD. Follow Henry's directions and you should be ok. OR, your internal drive is done for and you might need to replace it. Either way, Herny's directions is a good place to start.
