Toll Free Call to the States Side

(From Office Phone Only. Not from House Phone)

Many of our users must be unaware of the process for being able to call a toll-free number from a DSN line so that it is actually toll free.

In order to dial a toll-free number from OCONUS DSN:

1. Dial 809-463-3376.

This switches you to a stateside switchboard.

2. Wait for dial tone (only a couple seconds).

3. Dial the toll free number (1-800-xxx-xxxx, 1-888-xxx-xxxx, 1-877-xxx-xxxx).

Please ensure your users that utilize toll free numbers are aware of this procedure.

On the 800 numbers thing, I just wanted to add my 2 cents: if you have access to Skype, you can dial 800 numbers from anywhere using Skype (at least you could up until late June, I did it repeatedly from Yokosuka).

Just fire up Skype and on the little screen that pops up, click on the Skype name or number and put in the 800 number. The end!
