can someone shed some light on why the bread is frozen if it's baked fresh in Yokota? I have pretty much stopped buying the base bread and buying fresh bread out in town...yummo

Could you please elaborate about the bread at the Commissary? I buy the wheat and pumpernickel bread in the Deli area and didn't know that. Are you talking about that bread, or the bread in the aisles?

Well, Sasebo commissary has frozen bread from the States and Japanese bread on the shelves.

But I've come to prefer the Japanese bread from the local stores. The stuff that the commissary gets tastes spongy to me.

Why they are freezing your local bread at Yokota? I... got nothing. Someone misreading a directive and freezing all bread maybe?!?

A few years ago this story ran in the Stars and Stripes and it seems the Yokota bakery provides for most of Japan's bases.
Sorry, you'll have to copy and paste the link.
